                       The Bf 109K-4

The final production version of the Bf 109 series embodied a
few aerodynamic changes along with other refinements. The
hub mounted weapon was either a 30mm MK108 or MK103 cannon
with 60 rounds of ammunition. The twin MG151s in the upper
cowling had 220 rounds per gun. The K-4 differed from the K-
2 only in that it had cabin pressurization, and they began
rolling off the assembly lines in October 1944. The first
units to receive them were II/JG 11, II and III/JG 27, and
II/JG 53, and they were used in Operation Bodenplatte.
