A DOUBLE DUTY MISSION

The P-47 Thunderbolt is considered to be
the forerunner of modern, multirole air-
craft. As an high-altitude escort fighter
it was a match for both the FW 190 and
the Bf 109, as fighter-bomber or
ground-attack it held up well against
ground fire with its air-cooled, radial
engine and heavy armor.
Actually, P-47 pilots never had to do
bombing AND escorting duties in one single
mission. But as a hypothetcal situation
the C.O. of your fighter group has decided
to show the good performance of the P-47
in both subjects to some Generals. He has
appointed you for this very special
mission.

YOUR MISSION

You have to fulfill two objects in this
mission: First, save the bombers from
German fighter opposition as they are to
hit the Achmer Luftwaffe airfield.
After you have dispatched all enemy
fighters and the B-17s have unloaded their
cargo, go down to hit the buildings they
have missed. Use your bazooka rockets
first, then your guns.
Don't drop your external fuel tank before
it is empty and don't linger around the
target area too long, as it is defended
with Flak-towers and you have limited fuel.
On your flight back to England fly around
any German targets to avoid being hit by
their anti-aircraft fire.
Good luck, Sir!
