Escort P61Bs to Bonn

WEATHER: Niteowl
INSERTS: None
RADAR: SCR-720 AI (map usable)

By late 1944, the effectiveness of
the Nachtjagdkorps had dropped
dramatically for many reasons.
Principal among these was lack of
fuel caused by the Allied emphasis
during the fall on bombing oil pro-
duction and storage facilities.
Although the Germans still had large
numbers of aircraft available, many
of them remained grounded due to lack
of fuel.

ORDERS:
Escort the group of P61Bs, armed for
ground-attack, to Bonn airfield and
provide cover as they make their
attacks. Bonn has a large night-fighter
contingent, but intelligence says that
most of the aircraft will be grounded
due to fuel shortages. We hope to catch
a majority of the night-fighters on the
ground.
