Moskito vs. Mosquito

At first, the Mosquito was com-
pletely ignored in Luftwaffe plan-
ning. No attempt was made to spe-
cifically intercept this aircraft,
and no aircraft was ever designed
specifically for this purpose. After
all, the great weight of bombs was
dropped by 4-engined bombers, which
were easier targets, and more cri-
tical to the RAF. The He219 Uhu had
exhibited performance sufficient to
escape solitary Mosquitos while it
was hunting bombers, but the appea-
rance of larger numbers of the
Mossie increased casualties substan-
tially. The He219 lacked the maneuvering
capability to "dogfight" with a Mosquito.
The Ta154, the Focke-Wulf development
parallel to the Uhu, had much in common
with the Mosquito: wooden construction,
high speed, and excellent maneuverabi-
lity. Had technical problems not beset
the program, it could have seen a great
deal of success operating against
British intruders.
ORDERS: The British have dropped a
Mandrel jamming screen to simulate a
Main Force raid, forcing us to scramble
our aircraft, just in case. It appears
to be a decoy, so watch out for intruders
that could exploit our confusion....
