FW190A-4/Trop GUNNERY TRAINING

The changes from the FW190A-3 to the
FW190A-4 were fairly few, the principal
ones being the addition of a power boost
system to the BMW 801D-2 engine and the
replacement of the old radio with a FuG
16Z. There were not many in the
Mediterranean, but a few were
tropicalized. The FW190A-4 had as
armament, 2 x 7.9mm MG17 machineguns in
the upper cowling with 1000 rpg, 2 x MG
151 20mm cannon in the wing roots with
200 rpg, and two wing mounted MG FF 20mm
cannon with 55 rpg. Additionally,
optional bombloads were 4 x 110 pound
bombs or 1 x 551 pounder. Two 79 gallon
drop tanks were also common.
SPECS: Top speed (clean) of 382 mph at
19,685 feet, cruise speed 278 mph, range
497 miles, ceiling 34,775 feet.

                    YOUR MISSION

Practice making attack runs on a
formation of B-17s. The best
approach is from the front and slightly
above the bombers, where they are most
vulnerable to your Focke-Wulf's machine
guns and cannons. Once you've flown
past the bombers, break in a different
direction, and then continue to "jink"
until you're out of range of their
defensive gunfire.

Your FW 190A-4/Tropical has
unlimited ammunition.

Your mission will not end automatically.
You must choose to quit. Please see
your reference guide for instruction
on how to quit, as well as information
on other controls.
