A-36A "APACHE" GUNNERY PRACTICE

The A-36 was basically a P-51B Mustang
modified to make it into a ground attack
aircraft (hence the "A" designator.) It
had 6 x .50 caliber machineguns in the
wings and had provisions for 1,000 pound
and 2,000 pound bombs, as well as
underwing rockets. Additionally, dive
brakes were also installed. Top speed
was 388, the range was 400 miles and the
ceiling was 31,300 feet.
The Apache saw service in North Africa
with the 27th and 86th Fighter-Bomber
Groups, as part of XII Air Support
Command.

Press "B" to activate/retract the dive
brakes.

            YOUR MISSION

You are flying over the Mediterranean
in your A-36A, lined up behind three
Bf 109s. This first group will not
evade your gunfire. However, a second
group coming from the north will not
only evade, but attack you as well.
Remember to lead your targets to get an
accurate deflection shot.

Your A-36A cannot be damaged and has
unlimited ammunition.

Your mission will not end automatically.
You must choose to quit. Please see
your reference guide for instruction
on how to quit, as well as information
on other controls.
