DEATH OF ARMY GROUP CENTER

On the 22nd of June, 1944, the long
awaited Soviet offensive against Army
Group Center began. The first German
army to give way was the Ninth Army near
Bobruysk. The First Belorussian Front
hit them on the 24th and achieved
multiple penetrations. As for the
Luftwaffe, it had, for example, only 40
fighters available in the 6th Air Force
due to plane and fuel shortages. The VVS
had "overwhelming air superiority" and
concentrated on the German artillery
positions. In the first twelve days of
the offensive, Army Group Center lost 25
divisions to the onslaught.

MISSION

It is 22 June 1944. You are in one of
the few air units available to meet the
waves of Soviet airplanes that are coming
in to take out artillery and other rear
area positions. Get airborne quickly and
stop as many as you can. If your
airfield gets damaged to 30% capable or
less, you must land at a different
airfield. The Ninth Army is depending on
some air support to drive the Russians
away.

NOTES

This is a normal day mission. Also, it
might be better to just fire enough
rounds into your targets to make the
enemy planes abort as opposed to downing
them. This is an extremely tough
mission and is not supposed to be
balanced.
