P-39Q GUNNERY PRACTICE

The P-39's most famous contribution to
history is in its role a primarily a
Lend-Lease aircraft to the Soviet Union.
Over 4,900 of the Q-model were built, the
majority going to Russia. Although slow,
it was heavily armed, and some Soviet
pilots preferred it for that reason. It
had a 37mm gun firing through the
propeller hub, with (in the Q model) 2 x
.50 cal MG in the upper cowling, and 2 x
.50 cal MG in small fairings, one on each
wing.

                    YOUR MISSION

You are flying an intercept mission
in your P-39Q, lined up behind three
Bf 109s. This first group will not
evade your gunfire. However, a second
group coming from the north will not
only evade, but attack you as well.
Remember to lead your targets to get an
accurate deflection shot.

Your P-39Q cannot be damaged and has
unlimited ammunition.

Your mission will not end automatically.
You must choose to quit. Please see
your reference guide for instruction
on how to quit, as well as information
on other controls.
